There are just six months (to the day) until the Olympics in London begins. Today the Olympic village is officially handed over to the games organisers, Locog; we would like to say we were part of the construction, but we weren’t. Still, we’re very much looking forward to both the Olympic and Paralympics taking place here in the UK and a very exciting 2012 with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and much more.

Only A Few Days Left

Yes, there are only a few days left to take advantage of our fantastic offer of wood floor fitting. We’re offering fitting for a frankly ridiculous £10 per square metre (usual price £30) – that’s 2/3rds off! We’ll be offering this price to all customers who pay a deposit on their flooring before the end of January. And the 31st January is next Tuesday. Remember to quote ‘January offer’ when you contact us.

Reveal Day

You might have read that yesterday that today was the big DIY SOS reveal – we can’t reveal anything about it. DIY SOS Reveal

So our time working with the DIY SOS team is drawing to a close – tomorrow is the big reveal of the finished house to the owners. We have really enjoyed being able to do something for the benefit of someone in need. And we’re going to enjoy watching it all come together when the programme is shown in a few months time – we’ll let you know when it is as soon as we know!

Think Laminate’s Not For You?

Then you’re probably suffering from cheaplaminateitis (or something like that!).

We always strive to offer our customers a product that they like, but that is also suitable for the area and use it will be subject to. For instance, we wouldn’t recommend a solid wood floor for a kitchen. Likewise for commercial propertiesor other areas of high traffic, whilst wood can be used, laminate or vinyl floors are much more suitable. This is because they can be manufactured with a harder finish to stand up to lots of traffic and brush off potential scratches with ease. And, if the worst does happen, they aren’t as expensive to repair or replace. Plus modern laminates and vinyls are much more like real woods with grain effects and less repition in the boards.

So perhaps it’s time to give laminate another look?
